Tower Clock Eye Center is proud to announce a significant advancement in glaucoma care for patients across Northeast Wisconsin. Dr. Kurt Schwiesow, MD, has become the first surgeon in the region to successfully implant the iDose® TR implantable drug delivery system, bringing a new level of innovation and convenience to glaucoma treatment.

A Breakthrough in Glaucoma Management
Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive eye disease that can lead to vision loss if not properly managed. Traditionally, treatment has relied heavily on daily prescription eye drops to control intraocular pressure. While effective, this approach can be challenging for many patients due to strict dosing schedules, side effects and difficulty maintaining consistency.
The iDose TR represents a transformative shift in how glaucoma can be treated.
This tiny, implantable device is placed inside the eye during a minimally invasive procedure performed by a trained ophthalmic surgeon. Once in place, it continuously releases medication over an extended period—helping to control eye pressure without the need for daily drops.
Benefits of iDose TR
Patients who receive the iDose TR may experience several important advantages, including:
- Reduced or eliminated need for daily glaucoma eye drops
- Consistent, long-term medication delivery
- Improved treatment adherence
- Potential for better pressure control and disease management
- Greater convenience and quality of life
Leading the Way in Northeast Wisconsin
By becoming the first surgeon in Northeast Wisconsin to perform this procedure, Dr. Schwiesow continues Tower Clock Eye Center’s tradition of bringing advanced, patient-centered care to the communities we serve.
“Our goal is always to provide patients with the most effective and convenient treatment options available,” says Dr. Schwiesow. “The iDose TR is an exciting step forward in helping patients manage glaucoma more easily and effectively.”
Is iDose TR Right for You?
The iDose TR may be an option for patients who:
- Have open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension
- Struggle with maintaining a daily eye drop routine
- Are looking for a more consistent, long-term treatment solution
A comprehensive evaluation is required to determine if this technology is appropriate for each individual patient.
