Tower Clock Eye Center is pleased to announce the addition of the Valeda® Light Delivery System, expanding treatment options for patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Dry AMD is one of the leading causes of vision loss among older adults. Until recently, treatment options for many patients with dry AMD were limited. Valeda is the first and only FDA-authorized treatment that uses photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy to help improve visual function in eligible patients with dry AMD.
Unlike injections or surgery, Valeda is a non-invasive treatment that delivers precisely controlled, multiwavelength light to the retina. Treatment is performed in the office, requires no anesthesia, and allows patients to resume their normal activities immediately afterward.
Clinical studies have shown improvements in visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and other measures of visual function in appropriately selected patients. While Valeda is not a cure for dry AMD and is not appropriate for every patient, it offers a promising new treatment option that may help improve visual function and quality of life.
Patients who have been diagnosed with dry age-related macular degeneration are encouraged to schedule an evaluation to determine whether Valeda may be an appropriate treatment option. Our physicians will perform a comprehensive examination to determine eligibility and discuss whether Valeda fits each patient’s individual needs.
